Cold blue-white LED flood lights intermixed with warm- amber white LED rated at 2700K. Both types are bright enough for use on playground equipment. Yet, children never use this area at night. Flood lights used here are not shielded.
Easy to see the difference between cold blue-white 5000K LED and the nicer, warm-white 3000K LED lights. Both sets are correctly aimed & shielded. When you’re shopping for LED bulbs be sure to double check the back of the box when purchasing lighting. Look for the Kelvin rating for the ‘coloration’ and Lumen for the ‘brightness’. New dimmers are needed for new LED lights also. But, they work to REDUCE energy use so the newer dimmers are a big plus!
Mountain View Park II LED
Cold blue-white LED are bad for humans and for wildlife at night. Today, 24 other cities and towns in Arizona have updated their lighting codes to avoid this threat. Yet, Phoenix is waiting until 2032 before updating the 1992 lighting code to include Light Emitting Diodes! Why? Some businesses have adopted good LED outdoor lighting but others like the architect of this projected (left) on lighting he said, ‘he can do whatever he wants to in Phoenix’. But, in the Fountain Hills where he lives he would be fined. Phoenix, once the leader in smart LED lighting, is now last in adopting a new lighting code on LED fixtures in Arizona. Today, LED lighting covers over 98% of the lighting needs in the world.
